Apple watchers expected more good news out of Cupertino this afternoon, and they weren't disappointed when Apple released the best fourth quarter results it's ever posted.
Fueled by record-breaking sales of Macs and the continued popularity of the iPhone, Apple announced on Monday revenue of $6.22 billion for the fourth fiscal quarter and a net profit of $904 million. Those numbers mean that over the course of the year, the company generated over $24 billion in revenue and $3.5 billion in net income, says Peter Oppenheimer, Apple's CFO.
A large part of that revenue was attributed to the fact that Cupertino company managed to sell:
* 10,200,000 iPods, or 17 percent more than it sold in the same quarter a year ago.
* 2,164,000 Macs, which represented 34 percent year-over-year growth. In fact, that number exceeds the previous quarterly record for Mac shipments by 400,000, according to Oppenheimer.
* 1,119,000 iPhones, bringing cumulative fiscal 2007 sales to 1,389,000. Oppenheimer also said that Apple saw $118 million in revenue share from AT&T iPhone sales.
"Apple ended the fiscal year with $15.4 billion in cash and no debt," he said. "Looking ahead to the first quarter of fiscal 2008, we expect revenue of about $9.2 billion..." This, on the heels of strong iPod sales here in the U.S. and as the iPhone prepares for its international launch.

E intanto siamo arrivati a 175.
