Interessante.
It’s getting extremely difficult to live in New York if you’re making less than six figures, according to a new analysis from Bloomberg. The impact is being felt by those who live alone and it's taking place in areas that were previously seen as affordable.
Solo renters in popular Brooklyn neighborhoods like Prospect Heights, Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill now need to be making at least $100,000 per year to live there, a dramatic change from just five years ago.

Since American is quickly becoming a nation of renters (at least in expensive coastal enclaves like New York City) and many millennials fully anticipate that home ownership will be forever out of reach.
But even when young workers finally graduate from their unpaid internships and start earning that big-boy-job salary, they might find that rents in places like Manhattan (where the average monthly rent tops $4,000) make it too expensive to live in anything approximating a decent apartment with enough space to really feel at home.
.......What they found is hardly surprising. New York, Boston, and Los Angeles are the three cities where renters earning the median income can reasonably afford the least amount of space, even though they are among the cities with the highest average salaries in the country.

Xtol,

mentre si sta tutti "come d'autunno sugli alberi le foglie" in trepidante attesa delle decisioni del master of the universe, ricordiamo con amaro rimpianto i tempi in cui The Bank of England was “very desirous not to exercise any power,” as a director of that institution testified before a committee of the House of Commons in 1832.
gold standard, bei tempi andati
adesso..
The National Weather Service, which does deal with raindrops, and which marshals enormous computing power and truly big data, has an ordinary forecasting horizon of seven to 10 days. The central bankers inadvisedly cast their predictions into the distant future.
The ideology of the gold standard was laissez-faire; that of the (actual) Ph.D. standard (let’s call it) is statism. Gold-standard central bankers bought few, if any, government securities. Today’s central bankers stuff their balance sheets with them.
